The Asuka River winds quietly through Asuka Village, showing a completely different face with each season.

In spring, cherry blossom petals drift across the surface. By summer, the grasses on the banks grow thick and green, nearly hiding the water's edge. After an autumn rain, the current rises and the sound of the water grows a little louder. In winter, the water clears and the stones at the bottom become visible through the stillness.

Walk alongside the same river through a year, and each day feels like walking beside a different river entirely.

"Things have been so turbulent lately. It used to be so peaceful..."

But in truth, the world has always been full of change — things have always been happening.

That is what is normal. That is the law of nature.

Peace and calm are actually the exception — a quiet miracle.

So if today passed without anything going wrong, perhaps that is something to be grateful for.

We call a day when nothing happens "ordinary." But perhaps it was something else entirely — a small miracle shaped by countless quiet coincidences, quietly held together.
