Nestled just south of Nara Park, in the quiet residential area of Takabatake, Shin-Yakushi-ji stands in stillness.

Inside the main hall, the light is dim. At the center sits the Yakushi Nyorai — and encircling him, the twelve divine generals stand guard.

Each one is utterly different. One glares with sharp eyes. Another opens its mouth wide in a fierce cry. One pins a small demon underfoot. Their weapons, their armor, the angle of their feet — everything differs.

And yet, not one of them is looking at the others. Each one simply faces its own direction, standing in its own way.

" Don't live someone else's life "

This has two meanings.

① Don't try to meet other people's expectations.
→ It is simply impossible to meet someone else's expectations 100%.

② Don't expect others to do what you want.
→ It is simply impossible to control others according to your own will.

Just practicing this will make life dramatically easier.

In the dimness of the hall, the twelve have stood just so for over a thousand years.
