Isonokami Shrine in Tenri City rests quietly deep within an ancient grove.
A single path winds through towering trees toward the inner sanctuary. In the grounds, roosters — said to be sacred messengers — wander freely without regard to visitors, each going its own way. Not summoned by anyone. Not watched by anyone. Simply there.
Along the stone steps, a thick carpet of moss holds the silence of centuries.
"I haven't done anything to contribute..."
Don't worry.
Just by "not doing to others what you hated having done to you,"
(breaking the chain of negativity) you are already contributing to society.
If you can "do for others what made you happy when it was done for you,"
society will become even better.
How many times have you been quietly saved by someone else's "not doing"? When you think about it, your own day begins to look a little different.
